VACANCY: BOOKKEEPER (TO TRIAL BALANCE)

General Purpose of the Role:

  • To ensure that all bookkeeping & payroll duties are carried out in a timely, accurate and professional manner in order to fulfil clients’ requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, capturing, overseeing, assisting and managing Debtors & Invoicing, Creditors & Expenses, Stock, Cash flow & Cashbooks, Statutory Returns, Provident Fund, Payroll, and Reporting.

Job requirements:

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Bookkeeper.
  • High proficiency in Pastel Partner Pastel/Xpress &/or QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office.
  • Effective management of a number of clients’ books and the monthly cycle of associated work in order to meet deadlines
  • Work in clients’ offices, as required.
  • Excellent communications skills in both spoken & written English and able to communicate well with all levels of authority, with clients & other third parties.
  • A valid South African driver’s licence & daily access to own transport for ‘pick-ups’ and ‘drop-offs’ of client documentation, working at client premises as required, attendance of training events and any other business needs as required.
  • High standards of work and integrity in order to embody Assured Bookkeeping’s values of Quality, Integrity & Reliability.

Main Functions:

  • In-depth knowledge and accurate application of bookkeeping and payroll principals to all work undertaken, including:
    • Processing of client source documentation
    • Preparing & analysing the management accounts for clients
    • VAT calculations & submissions
    • Payroll taxation and administration of payrolls
    • EMP201s, EMP501s & OID returns
    • SARS & Dept of Labour registrations/de-registrations
    • Financial year-end procedures
    • Effective handling of client and SARS queries
  • Understanding & communicating the stories behind the numbers:
    • Understanding the clients’ bookkeeping requirements & implementing their record keeping accurately
    • Ability to communicate with clients in non-technical language, including but not limited to:
      • Explaining what the content of their management accounts mean
      • Explaining SARS / Dept of Labour communication
      • Explaining queries that we have with clients’ work so that they are able to provide the information required to complete their books
